Cereal Treat Bars ~ Giveaway #MyBlogSpark

Back to school is probably one of my favorite times of the year. I think for some people life gets more hectic when kids go back to school but not for me. I home school my oldest daughter so I don’t have to worry about packing a lunch for her but I do have to come up with some good easy snacks to keep her focused during the day. She thinks that school should be baking all day. Great way to incorporate math into a lesson but not something I want her doing all day, every day which she would if I let her. She’s always loved cereal probably because it was all I was able to eat when I was pregnant with her younger brother and sister! I knew as soon as I heard about General Mills Cereal Treat Bars that she would love them. Two of the varieties are  Golden Grahams® (130 calories) and the  new Lucky Charms® Treats (100 calories), loaded with popular favorites like chocolate and marshmallows. My oldest loved the Golden Grahams and my youngest loves the marshmallows in the Lucky Charms bars. I’ve also found that since we do a lot of waiting in doctors offices these are a quick easy way to prevent tantrums when a doctor is running late and it’s getting close to either lunch or dinner.
Lucky Charms
If your child does go to school and they participate in the Box tops for Education program you will be happy to know that each box comes with two seals for your school. Jahnna keeps asking me why we can’t collect them for our homeschool! I let her clip them out and then we send them with my son to his school.
You can check out Cereal Treats Bars online for great information and coupons for new products. Also, be sure to visit the Betty Crocker Facebook page and get involved in the conversation. They would love to hear how your family enjoys Cereal Treats Bars!

The Hardline Self Help Handbook ~ Giveaway

Hardline Self HelpWhat are you willing to do to get what you really want? Have you ever thought about it that way? I’ve found that I tend to think in terms of what I want but dont’ really follow through and make a plan. Paula Renaye does a wonderful job of taking you through the steps to get what you really want.

The title might sound a bit harsh, “The Hardline Self Help Handbook” pretty much says what the book is going to do. Paula forces you to really take a look at what is holding you back from getting what you want out of life. She’s not mean about it, she’s just very straight forward. Her stories are told through out the book and after reading the first or second one you realize that she isn’t speaking without having been there and done that to get where she is.

Paula Renaye

I love that in the very beginning she tells of a friend who listens to her tell her story and then says “Isn’t it great that for the rest of your life, no matter who you tell that story to, they’ll say ‘you poor thing’. And you, my friend, can be a victim forever!” That’s one heck of a sucker punch to get you thinking about the direction your life is heading in. At the end of each chapter Paula has come up with excercises that will help you reach your goals and get rid of some of the things in your life that might be holding you back.

I will admit that I have not gone through and done the excercises in the book yet. I’ve read them and I’ve thought about them but I haven’t taken the time to sit down and processed it all yet. To be honest, I’m not ready to yet. I willingly own that. I know that some day when the shock of the last two months has worn off that I’ll be ready to move forward again. I’ve been in a slump since finding out about my husbands brain cancer. Each day we’re just trying to figure out what our new normal is again. And I’m okay with that for now. At the end of The Hardline Self Help Book Paula says that sometimes you just have to let it be. It’s up to you to know what you need and for me this is what I need right now. Time to focus on my family and figure out how to kick cancer in the butt! I haven’t given up on my dreams I’ve just had to reprioritize and reassess what is important our life. The book and the diagnosis have reminded me of what’s important to me.

I highly recommend The Hardline Self Help Handook for anyone who wants to make a positive change in their life. I won’t promise that it will change your life over night or that it will be easy. It won’t. It’s not a band-aid fix as Paula explains in the book. It’s a way to really help you change your thinking and find out who you want to be.

Scotch-Brite Cleaning Products ~ Giveaway

I was so happy to receive the new Scotch Brite Bathroom products to try. I hate cleaning bathrooms. Any product that makes it easier for me to get it clean is a great thing. Here they are in random order.

Scotch-Brite

The first product I tried out was the Non-Scratch Tub Scrubber. We have fairly hard water and a constant ring around the tube. I’ve used just about everything on it. Usually the tub wins but in this case I did! It so easy to use my 4 year old actually scrubbed the tub (after I did the initial cleaning) during her next bath. It kept her entertained and I was able to clean up a little bit more in the bathroom while she felt like she was helping out. I’ve never been worried about scratching our bathtub so I would not have gone out of my way to buy this if I’d just seen it in the store but it works so well I’ll definitely keep it around.

Scotch-BriteThe Shower Scrubber is a great idea for those who aren’t very tall or who have a hard time bending over to scrub floors. It worked great in my teeny tiny shower. Usually to clean our shower you have to open the door and kneel down outside the shower and scrub the floor. I was able to use this while standing in the shower. That might not seem like a big deal but my shower only gets cleaned on days when I have a few extra minutes in the morning while I’m taking a shower. Please tell me I’m not the only one who multitasks in such a weird way? I’ve only used the shower scrubber twice so I don’t know how long it will last but the two times I have used it I’ve loved it.

Scotch-BriteI used to save our old toothbrushes to clean around the sink edges and get in those hard to reach spots. The toothbrushes never really did a great job but where more effective than a rag. I think this might be my favorite tool out of the new product line. You can get anywhere with the Nook and Cranny Scrubber. It cleaned the edges of my sink, that gunk that collects around the faucet handles, the edges around the toilets. The linoleum in our kitchen has been split along the seam ever since we moved in and I even used it to clean out the crud that’s accumulated in there over the last 4 years.

Scotch-BriteI don’t have any grout in my house so I wasn’t sure that I would ever use this scrubber. I had read some great reviews on it and I started wondering if there was anything I could use it for. I decided I’d try it along the baseboards in our bathrooms. It worked great. I wasn’t sure it could really get down into the edge but it did. I don’t know that I’d buy it for that purpose because I love the Nook and Cranny scrubber so much but in a pinch this works great for things other than grout.

Scotch-BriteI’ve never used a streak free cloth before that worked. They always leave either the streaks or lint behind. My husband had no interest in them either. Until he saw this one. He stole it from me! How rude! Seriously this is his direct quote “This is mine! Keep your hands off it or go get another one. In fact get one for each bathroom!” In his defense he was laughing when he said that. He used it to clean the computer screen, his glasses and the t.v.. I used it once on my daughters grimy tooth paste crusted mirror and it did a great job. I haven’t gone and gotten one for each bathroom only because we’ve been in and out of the hospital and back and forth for doctors appointments. As soon as life settles down a bit these are at the top of my grocery list.

Scotch-BriteThe Reusable Counter Cloth page on the Scotch-Brite website says that this cloth is the equivalent of 10 rolls of paper towels. That’s a lot of paper saved by using just one of these. I loved this for cleaning my bathroom counters. I usually just use a washcloth but those don’t really absorb a lot. They might clean well but it’s not very multi-purpose. The first time I used this cloth I was shocked at how much hair was covering my counters. I know I have long hair and that it gets every where but good grief there was a lot of it on the counter that I couldn’t see or that didn’t get picked up when I do my usual morning counter wipe down. I love that this works similar to a sponge for liquids but really cleans well.

Scotch-BriteThe Angled Scrubber works well for those of you who like more of a sponge type product. The angled edge is great for cleaning under edges. It has a non-scratch side for the heavier jobs and a sponge side. The angled edge is really the best feature of this product.

If you want to try out any of these products be sure and go to the coupon section of the Scotch-Brite website before you do. Everyone can use a good deal right? In my opinion Scotch-Brite has always made quality products and this new line up of bathroom solutions is a great example of how they continue to try and make cleaning products to really fit your life and need.

Boost Your Revenues By Turning People Away ~ Giveaway

boost your revenues by tturning people away

Boost Your Revenues By Turning People Away How to sell more to your ideal client online was authored by Alison Silbert. If you have ever considered selling online this is the book for you. You can save yourself a lot of time and money by following her advice in this book. I found many parts of it to be useful and I don’t sell anything. If  you blog you should probably pick up a copy as well and before you choose a website name. I wish I had before I’d named this site. Definitely not one of my more creative moments.

Alison will teach you how to identify your ideal visitor, what your website needs in order to satisfy your ideal visitor, and how to figure out what parts you need on your website so you can tell your ideal visitor what he wants to know. All of that comes in the first part of the book. I love that she has included different examples on her website to show you things like a poorly laid out website versus a well laid out website.

If you’ve never made a website before you might wonder if it’s better to use a template or get a custom made website. For awhile on my personal blog we were trying to raise funds for my son to get Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments. I had no idea where to look in order to sell ebooks, how to process payments or even where to start. It’s all laid out for you in Chapter 5. I eventually ended up scrapping my efforts because it was so complicated but it seems I made it much harder than it had to be. Oh well, hind sight is 20/20 right?

Boost Your Revenues By Turning People Away is a great place to start if you are thinking about developing any type of website. It doesn’t matter if you have some one build it for you or you do it yourself. Alison’s tips and experience comes from real life clients that have struggled with these same questions and experiences. I love that she talks about both the USA and Canada in most of the chapters. This book will apply to bloggers and business owners alike. Let Alison help you reach your online marketing potential.

Here is a short video on the book.

Pirates of the CaribbeanPirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opens everywhere on May 20th. If everything goes as planned I am excited to be able to go to a screening on the 16th.  Here is the official description of the movie.

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise – this time in Disney Digital 3D. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the engimatic Angelica (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love- or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge.” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more:Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past.
